吉川文代による個展　"Art as meditation"　（瞑想としてのアート）

今回DVCで開催されている吉川文代による個展は『天地同根』天地のすべてのものが一つの根に繋がっているという禅の教えをテーマとしています。ドローイングとペインティングを中心に、画材として石、米紙、竹紙、大河原紙、色紙、麻紙といった支持体の上に、墨、金粉、黄藤、朱といった日本画顔料の他、水彩、また、ワイオミングで制作された作品には、現地でとれた石炭や泥なども使用して描かれています。また、書道やサイトスペシフィック・インスタレーション、そして、展示作品に関連する制作時の模様や、デモ、アートレジデンシー時のワークショップやコラボレーション作品についてのビデオもご覧になれます。

これらの展示物は、実際に近くで体験していただくことを目的としています。この展覧会が瞑想と美のひとときを共有、体験できる機会となれば素晴らしいことであります。ことに、多くの人にとって変化の激しいこの時期には非常に意味のあることと思います。この個展は11月10日まで、アートコンプレックス101号の新設アートギャラリーで開催されています。

A solo exhibition by artist Fumiyo Yoshikawa “Art as Meditation”

Fumiyo Yoshikawa’s exhibition at DVC focuses on the theme of “Tenchi Doukon”, the Zen teaching “everything in the earth and the universe is connected to the same root”. Comprised mostly of drawing and painting, Fumiyo uses Sumi-ink, Nihonga pigments/mineral colors, gold powder, mud, gamboji, coal, watercolor, and cinabor as drawing material on stones, rice paper, bamboo paper, Okawara paper, Shikishi and Mashi paper. The exhibition also includes calligraphy, a site specific installation and video.

As intended this exhibit is meant to be experienced in person (very closely). We are grateful to get the opportunity to experience a moment of meditation and beauty with this exhibit, especially meaningful during this time of change for so many. The exhibit runs through Nov 10th, in the new Art Complex, room 101.
