As a fan of classical music, I’m always intrigued and fascinated by musicians’ flow experience during a stage performance. In the drawing, I captured the tension, focus and the beautiful moment as he was playing the main melody of “La Notte”, a Vivaldi flute concerto.

First assignment of the class and I’m very proud of how it turned out. I managed to fool my classmates on the actual sizes of the items, so I’d like to hear what you (judges or whoever reads this) think the actual sizes of the objects are.

Haynes Self Portrait
Haynes, Meena
Charcoal on drawing paper
Drawing & Color
The art project assigned was rather tedious. I don't normally draw myself or anything along the lines of realism, so I assumed the self-portrait wouldn't look very presentable. When the drawing was complete, I was amazed at how alive it looked. Looking back on that artwork, I'm very proud of it.

The point of this work is complementary color. I like the contrast between pink and green. Even though pink seems brighter than green, green can also be bright after I adjusted its value. Overall, I enjoyed the process of playing and mixing these two different colors.
