This piece was created from a photo of a collection the photographer Kjell Sandvel took of the alphabet spelled out on butterfly wings. The piece shows the textures of a butterflies wing up close while maintaining the image of the letter C.

A philodendron leaf is placed over a remote sensing map of agricultural evapotranspiration. The viewer is meant to contemplate how processes at the leaf-level scale up to the whole ecosystem. The veins in the leaf were scraped out while the paint was still wet.

This piece was created with the intent to capture a toy tow truck of a childlike color combination. Creating colors to match the truck was the most challenging and fascinating moment. It was the perfect time to see what pigments straight from the tube, when mixed together, could bring.
