This piece was created from a photo of a collection the photographer Kjell Sandvel took of the alphabet spelled out on butterfly wings. The piece shows the textures of a butterflies wing up close while maintaining the image of the letter C.

A philodendron leaf is placed over a remote sensing map of agricultural evapotranspiration. The viewer is meant to contemplate how processes at the leaf-level scale up to the whole ecosystem. The veins in the leaf were scraped out while the paint was still wet.
