This piece is meant to be somewhat surreal and left open to interpretation, but to me it feels very rooted in the experiences of this past year. The box is an empty case of Nordeast beer (a Minnesota brand)

Art 150 Wood Block
"Fight or Flight" illustrates the struggle we all face in our daily lives. The cricket symbolizes perseverance through tough situations. This woodcut uses the combination of wood grain pressed from a wooden plank plus three separate woodblocks which were carved throughout my Spring 2021 semester. The arrangement was put together in a new formation and accented with mixed media.

Print Making-Woodblock I
Instructor: Toru Sugita
The work shows a heavily covered and sun-protected woman organizing colorful boxes used to store and sort different kinds of fish at a pier in Hoi An, Vietnam. The multitude of colors and sheer number of boxes overwhelming the woman convey a sense of endless and hard labor under the fiery tropical sun.

Woodblock Print with Ink on Rice Paper
Woodblock printmaking
Instructor: Toru Sugita
This print I made in Toru's woodblock printmaking class is of two people holding hands; I made it to express the human interaction that I felt I've been missing during the pandemic. It's four layers (red, blue, yellow, black), and I designed them to overlap, creating a rainbow of colors in celebration of all love.
